Hey Everyone!
Hope you're all having a great summer back home! It's still hot out here! Tainan is one roasty little place. About the only time when you aren't sweating like mad is when you're in your room with the air conditioning. I sweat while just standing in the shade.
First off, the Shirt Review. Well, sort of. I just wanted to comment that I have never seen so many marijuana shirts in my life as I have this week. I think the devil's out to get me.
Oh, our recent convert brother Zheng won 200 NT in the "receipt lottery" and was SO psyched to pay tithing. He's also a really good member to have sit in on lessons. He's fabulous with running with our analogies. Super cool.
This week we had a really cool experience. On Tuesday afternoon, we planned to go find a less active family on the ward list. We got to the general area and then Elder Lapray realized that he'd tried to look for this family before, but they were unable to find the address. Well, we decided to look anyways, and after some fancy detective work with Google Maps at the convenience store on the corner, managed to find our way to the house. We knocked on the door and the mom opened the door and told us to come in. We were like, "we can't if your husband's not here" and she said very insistently, "come in now." She then told us that the night before, her husband, who was a drinker, had fainted and been taken to the office. He was in critical condition and the situation was not looking good. She invited us to come to the hospital the next morning. That night, we got the ward rallied during Ward Council Meeting and on Wednesday morning, we found ourselves outside the ICU of the hospital. We had several members along (Elder Lapray called them the White Shirt Posse) and they did fabulous with comforting the family and giving a blessing. We felt really helpless cause we didn't really know the people, but what was important was that the members were there. If we hadn't received revelation to go visit that family, nobody would have ever known about the situation. I don't know what will come out of this experience, but whatever happens, it's clear to me that the Lord leads us by his Spirit. When we made that plan, we didn't feel anything particularly special. However, because we were doing what we were supposed to, we were led by the Spirit. I think that's how revelation works a lot of times. Just trust it, and believe it when you look back on it.
Love you all! Have a good week!
Elder Siebert
PS: Curse that scummy family of mine, going to Washington without me!
